What have you learned about today? 20\05\2021

Making the right choices to help the environment and the sea, and animals. Pollutants. Animals are dying because of pollution. Climate change. The video makes us think about the planet and polluting. We need to re-populate the sea. 

We need to stop the pollution and prevent it going into the ocean. Stop getting plastic in the ocean. Plastic is destroying fish in the ocean. Scientists are trying to stop the plastic from going into the ocean, and other organisations are taking it out. 

What did you think about the video?

I thought it was really interesting because we saw how much pollution is in the ocean and how we need to reduce the amount. I thought that we need to stop it, the plastic. 

What is something you could do to reduce pollution?

Put your plastic in the rubbish and not in the ocean. Use recycling bins. Re-use same bottle.

What has the video encouraged you to think about?

• The video encouraged me to think about the people, the sea life, the oxygen we breathe, the environment that we currently live in is at risk, and the Amazon Forest is now at risk.

 What do you think?

• I think if we stop using plastic the environment will get better and fish in the ocean will survive better.

In our health class we got to choose a topic of our chose.

I choose the topic on drinking and the harmful ways that over drinking can damage your body and your family and others around you.

Firstly I found information on excessive drinking through the health books that Miss Aiken gave me.

Also I found more information on the internet about drinking.

Once we were given our 5 questions i research the information through books and the internet so I could answer the big 5 big question.

From the information i found I realised how expensive alcohol is and that people get addicted and then they don't have enough money to pay their bills eg power, phone, rent.

I decided to create a poor house out of lego to show how some people live when they get addicted to alcohol and they live very poorly.

Reflectiom  The hardest challenge was when my brother keep breaking my lego poor house  To over cone this I put it up high so he could not reach it.

i am really proud of myself because its taught how to drink sensibly for the future.

i worked well with my teacher aide doing my project.

We had to get on Tinkacad. Which is a 3D designing  program on our chrome books. Then we had to design it.

I found it quite hard. We had a paper design we had to copy from with the measurements on it. But trying to draw to on Tinkacad was hard because it was quite different to using a pencil and paper. The angles were extremely had to work out because if you didn't get it right it wouldn't look right. Then we had to send it to Mr Rozska, to print out on the laser cutter.

Then we had to make the main project out of aluminum which was fun. some of the tools we use were Scriber, engineers ink, files, saws soft jaws were used in the vice to stop our metal getting damaged and scratched. To make holes we had to used the drill press. Which i found hard because the drill piece was multiple sizes and you had to stop at the right size which we did get wrong. I think I ended up with 2 size 7mm holes. 

The engineers ink was used for being able to see our scriber lines. We used the saws to cut the metal and the files to make it smooth and level. Once we had this Mr Rozska had printed off us some acrylic pieces that had our names on them and the size of our holes. we then had to glue these on using special glue and my numbers bit of acrylic was a bit bent it didn't glue properly. so I will have to glue it again and maybe stick a peg on the end to make it stick.

I enjoyed making this out of 3d then making out of the metal. will be good for the drill bits we have at home to know what size we are using.

 In Hurumanu today we had to watch some videos of the ocean and it was about the reef dying and Mt Everest and the rubbish people leave behind.I have written some very simple sentences about the things we watched. There is a link over the sentences you can take a look and see if you agree.

PE meeting

I did 1 meeting for PE.

It was boring.

I didn't do 3 or 2 meeting for PE

I did a lot of meeting a about 14 meeting.

The meeting took a about a 30 minutes.

The meeting was fun:).

But I like the meeting a lot.

I did a lot of work reading, some maths and timetable.

I went to 1 class by myself this week.

I did library assistant and chess club.

I did 3 tests this week I was good at it.

I was being good to Joyce doing my work with her.
